Extension and Advanced

The following are specific examples how ICT can be used for pedagogy and assessment to meet the Stage 6 English outcomes for the Extension and Advanced courses-

English Extension:

Outcome 4 - "A student develops and delivers sophisticated presentations.” (NSW BOS, p.4, 2007)

Students can do online research by:
  • Liaising with professionals & academics (over things such as twitter & online forums)
  • Scholarly journals
  • Contemporary research and information
Students can develop and present content through:
  • Online content
  • Vodcasts / podcasts
  • Smart boards and online presentations such as Voice Thread
  • Websites
It will give students opportunities to develop these skills through presenting to a real world audience, critical thinking skills and student direction.

English (Advanced):

Outcome 4 - "A student describes and explains the ways in which language forms and features, and structures of particular texts shape meaning and influence responses." (NSW BOS, p. 42, 2007)

Students could meet this outcome by utilising ICT through such interactive websites as TaLE (Teaching and Learning Exchange). An example of a specific activity from TaLe is 'Meaning in context: denotation and connotation' https://portalsrvs.det.nsw.edu.au/learningobjects/Content/L7955/object/index.html
